PROTECT

Self-defense is the right to protect oneself against violence or threatened violence with whatever forces or means reasonably necessary.

WVU students have the option to participate in a free class to learn self-defense techniques. PROTECT (Personal Response Options and Tactically Effective Counter Techniques) is a class taught several times throughout the semester by the University Police Department for any female students.

The class teaches female students the skills necessary to incapacitate their assailant and escape. The class focuses on teaching behavioral cues, vulnerable areas, takedowns and more.

Anyone interested in PROTECT can contact WAR at wvuwar@gmail.com.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT PROTECT:

"This class will definitely teach you how to get drunks off of you and run far away from them."
Bailey Scott, WVU student

"I think it is important for students, especially girls, to attend at least one self-defense class while in college. I'm glad I attended the class because I learned self-defense skills to get me out of sticky situations if ever faces with one."
Hannah Gordon, WVU student
